Capturing the Devil if the final book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco, where Audrey and Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil. Will Audrey and Thomas stay ahead of the killer or will they see their romance cut short?
BLURB
Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London they knew. But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well. When the two attend the spectacular World’s Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders.
Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any they’ve heard of before. Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him—and getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a terrifying torture device—is another.
Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last mystery to the end—together and in love—or will their fortunes finally run out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?
REVIEW
This was amazing novel to finish the story on. I couldn’t put the book down.
Audrey and Thomas have finally admitted their feelings for each other and are going to get married. However, nothing goes right and a girl Thomas used to court comes back into his life making it difficult for Audrey. Audrey being the fearless and strong-minded woman she is, doesn’t let this change the way she feels about Thomas and they decide to keep moving to solve the investigation.
After Audrey and Thomas arrive in America, they discover the World Fair with all its wonder, but also with many reports of missing people and unsolved murders. They decide to solve the mystery, however Audrey gets too close and luckily is saved before the worse happens.
I truely enjoyed seeing Audrey and Thomas come together and really recognise how important they are to each other. Although bad things happened, Audrey remained strong and fearless as she solved the mystery and continued doing what she feels called to do, forensic medicine.
