REVIEW

I truely enjoyed reading these stories about D.C., Jordan and Bear. They gave missing pieces to each aspect of the characters.

While reading the main series, I started to wonder why Alex’s roommate D.C. acted the way she did. In Crowns and Curses, I learnt about her childhood and how Kaiden and Declan helped her deal with other kids that made her life and making friends difficult. When she got invited to Akarnae she thought things would change and was excited for the possibility of a roommate but that didn’t happen until Alex. I truely enjoyed learning more about D.C. and her changing friendship with Alex.

In Stars and Silence, I enjoyed exploring how Jordan coped after being freed from Aven. During the series, we saw hints that D.C. helped Jordan at night, but it was great to actually read what they got up to. I loved how during Jordan’s story, we could see the change in D.C and Jordan’s relationship as well as how Hunter imparted wisdom and helped Jordan slowly recover.

In Hearts and Headstones, Bear is coping with the lost of his father and we see what D.C., Jordan and Bear get up to when Alex is trying to unite everyone before facing Aven. I loved seeing Bear draw support from Declan and how Alex really cares about Bear. It was also great to see how Bear helps great devices that will be used to weaken the Meyarins with the help of his brothers confirming his ideas. I enjoyed seeing the changing friendship with Declan.

We Three Heroes flesh out the storylines of D.C., Jordan and Bear and it was great reading from a perspective other than Alex.
