Crown of Midnight Book Review

Crown of Midnight is the second book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas.

BLURB

Celaena Sardothien is the King’s Champion, yet she is far from loyal to the crown. But secretly working against her master is no easy task. As she untangles the glass castle’s mysteries, no one is above questioning her allegiance not Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, Captain of the Guard; not even Nehemia, her friend and rebel princess. Then, an unspeakable tragedy shatters Celaena’s world. She must decide once and for all where her loyalties lie . . . and for whom she will fight.

REVIEW

This was a fantastic second book to the series. Sarah J Maas continues to build on the world of Adarlan and the surrounding areas as the protagonist Celaena is now the King’s Champion.

Sarah J Maas creates well thought out characters as well as deepening the knowledge about the protagonist. I love how Calaena begins to have stronger ties to Dorian and Chaol, and even seems to have a friend in the princess Nehemia.

The changing of perspectives in the chapters, add depth and insight into the other characters’ perspectives. The character growth of Calaena, Chaol and Dorian is seen throughout the whole book and Nehemia’s character reveal’s depth and allow’s Calaena to grow even more.

There are a couple of twists that surprised me in this book and reveals truth about Calaena. I’m looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens next.
